Nasir Amel was born in Tabriz, Iran,1960. He studied undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies in geology at the University of Tabriz. He received his master's degree in 1995 and his doctorate in 2007 from the Department of Geology, University of Tabriz. Since 1995, he has been working as a faculty member in the Department of Earth Sciences in the field of Petrology at the University of Tabriz. He is associate professor and has taught various geology courses during this period. His specialty is petrology of igneous rocks. His main topics of study were igneous petrology, volcanology and field geology. He has supervised more than 40 master's theses and doctoral dissertations in igneous petrology. Nasir has published many articles in international and national journals and has presented numerous papers at national and international conferences. He is a member of the Iranian Geological Society and Iranian Society of Crystallography and Mineralogy. From 2010 to 2014, he worked as the director and vice chancellor of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Tabriz University.
