Asghar Asghari Moghaddam was born in Tabriz, Iran, 1959. He received the B.Sc. degree in Geology from the University of Tabriz in 1984 and M.Sc. and Ph.D. both in Hydrogeology from the University College London (UCL) in 1987 and 1991. In1992, he joined the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Tabriz. Dr. Asghari Mohaddam established M.Sc.and Ph.D hydrogeological courses in that Department, in 1999 and 2009 respectively. He has supervised more the 100 M.Sc. and 8 Ph.D. students' thesis up to now.  

He is a full professor of Hydrogeology and the author or coauthor of more than 150 papers in international and national refereed journals and more than 100 conference contributions. His research interests cover several aspects across hydrogeology mainly hydrogeochemistry, groundwater hydraulics, karst hydrogeology, groundwater modeling and groundwater contaminations. Dr. Asghari Moghaddam is the Editor of Journal of Hydrogeology which established at the University of Tabriz, in 2006.
