Mohsen Moayyed was born in Tabriz, Iran,1963. He studied undergraduate, postgraduate studies in geology at the University of Tabriz and doctorate at Shahid Beheshti University . He received his master's degree in 1992 and his doctorate in 2001 from Department of Geology, University of Tabriz and Shahid Beheshti University. Since 2001, he has been working as a faculty member in the Department of Earth Sciences in the field of Petrology at the University of Tabriz. He is Full professor and has taught various geology courses during this period. His specialty is petrology of igneous rocks. His main topics of study were igneous petrology, economic geology and geodynamics. He has supervised more than 100 master's theses and doctoral dissertations in igneous petrology and economic geology. Mohsen has published 142 articles in international and national journals and has presented 280 papers at national and international conferences. He is a member of the Iranian Geological Society and Iranian Society of Crystallography and Mineralogy. From 2010 to 2015, he worked as dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of University of Tabriz.
