Prof. Ali Asghar Calagari was born (1954) in Bandargaz (Golestan province), Iran. He obtained his B.Sc. degree in Geology from University of Tabriz in 1976 and M.Sc. degree in Economic Geology from Washington State University (USA) in 1981, and Ph.D. degree in Economic Geology from Manchester University (UK) in 1997. So far, He has published over 130 papers in prestigious domestic (ISC) and international (ISI) journals and presented over 150 articles in national and international symposiums. He was employed as faculty member at Department of Earth Sciences in University of Tabriz in 1982, and still is continuing his work as full professor of Economic Geology at this department. Up till now, he has taught many courses in B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. levels and supervised over 65 M.Sc. and 23 Ph.D. theses. His major research interests are geochemistry, alteration, and mineralization of porphyry copper deposits and associated skarns; epithermal gold deposits; and geochemistry and genesis of bauxite-laterite deposits.
