Vartan Simmonds was born in London, UK, 1978. He is graduated with a B.Sc. degree in Geology from University of Tabriz (1999) and M.Sc. & Ph.D. degrees in Economic Geology from University of Tabriz in 2002 and 2010, respectively. He has been working as an academic staff at the University of Tabriz since 2011, first as an assistant professor at the Research Institute for Fundamental Sciences (RIFS) up to 2019, and then as an Associate Professor at the Department of Earth Sciences. Simmonds has published many articles in international and national journals and attended many international and national conferences and supervised M.Sc. and Ph.D. theses and dissertations. He is a member of the Geological Society of London and the European Geosciences Union. His major interests include ore deposits, geochemistry and geochronology to study the genesis of mineralization and the geodynamics of the Earth’s crust.
